I received a few inquiries about the electronic ignition I installed in my TEA20.

Browsing this site, I see they sell the same Petronics ignition system to fit TO20, TO30, TO35, 50, MH50 and 65. I also fitted the matching Petronics high voltage coil.

"Never change points again. Easy to install. Increases spark plug life. Increases horsepower. Improves fuel economy. Solid-state electronics."

All that - and more!!!

Thanks Bob Indeed, Aeroplanes and PNG are again my employment. Was in Talair 1985 to early 90s and am back flying a Dash 8 out of Tabubil!!!!!In fact this place is a retirement village for old Talair pilots!! We have Tony Skelton, Ben Stafford, Dan Bartolini and believe it or not Trevor Douglas is our Manager in Cairns!!! Small world what??
Got a few acres in Mackay with a te20 Fergie which is my pride and joy although it does work fairly hard slashing and pulling a back blade
See Ya

Well, I'll be darned!!! 24 million people in Australia and PNG combined and I run into you on a US based tractor Forum!! Give my regards to the mottley ex Talair crew!

Just last week one of my staff got a taxi at the Gold Coast - driven by John Thomas! Talk about coincidences.

Drop me an email bfulton@goldenwest.org.au - I have a mountain of info on Fergys and very happy to share with you!

G'Day Bob,
Can you buy the unit in OZ (Australia) or will the company in your link send it from the US?

G'Day Dave. There is an Agent in Australia. I emailed them, no response. Called them, they weren't aware they were agents!!!

I bought mail order from the US. Only a couple of bucks postage and here in a week or so. Also bought their high voltage coil.

Only slight problem I had - the grommet on the wires was designed and shaped for a slide in distributor, whereas the TEA has a round hole through the distributor and it took a fair amount of poking and pulling to get it to fit.

Apart from that - the electronic ignition is terrific!

Idle curiosity with your name - does aeroplanes and PNG make any sense to you?? If so, it is a small world!

I have had a Pertronix on my TO-30 for about three years now and I am very happy with it. My tractor starts in a quarter turn in all kinds of weather. I have had enough experience with changing and setting points so the maintenance free aspects of the electronic ignition really appeals to me.
I doubt the claim about increased horsepower however unless they mean relative to an engine that won't start or one that is misfiring!
