Just picked up a to-30. When i got it, i put the hydraulics in up position, but now i can not get it down. It only moves down about 3 inches. It stays up even when tractor is shut down. Any ideas. Also have leak where pto shaft comes out. Can the oil seal be changed from the back without spitting tractor.

thanks

bill

just undo four bolts around shaft pull it out make sure you drain all fluid about 3 gallons out first I took mine to a Ford Tractor dealer and they ordered the seal and bearing and replaced it total charge of 32.00 Canadian then I reinstalled it you might want to check the plug on top of transmission casing it has a vent hole and mine was plugged solid.

Bill,
I believe the pto has to be going in order for the hydraulics to work. Have you tried that?
Also, the pto shaft should slide right out after removing the bolts surrounding it. Then it's a matter of replacing the seal.
Never done it, but I understand that to be the case. Somebody out there with more knowledge might want to verify that.
Have fun with your Fergie.
Chuck
