The 12 v battery that came with the tractor when I bought it has died. No markings on battery that I can find. What "size" battery should I get to replace it? 500 ah or what? Does anybody sell a replacement bracket to hold the battery. Mine is mostly there, but one side is corroded away, and it might be easier to replace than repair.

Thanks

I like the 51 or 51R, check your post configuration.
22F is quite close to original. Many will fit.
If you want same as you have measure it and look in battery application book.

It seems to me that any 12 volt automotive battery that will fit in there should do it. The electrical requirements on these machines are not great. One thing I would recommend is make sure that whatever battery you select has at least an inch of clearance between the top posts and vent caps of the battery and the hood or any other tractor parts. Obviously, you don't want the posts to contact anything and arc, but also the vents need room for air to circulate. If the vents are very close to or touching anything, the sulfuric acid fumes which are emitted by the vents will corrode it in short order. Does the battery currently in there seem to fit properly? If it does, I would match it up to a new one the same size. Maybe someone else on this forum knows the ideal battery size for this tractor. As far as battery hardware goes, most of the hold-downs are pretty universal. If you don't see what you need on this website, I would take what remains of your old hold-down setup to an auto parts store and match it up.

Since batteries are more often priced by warranty length than by size, the largest, highest capacity battery that will fit the battery box is the best deal. It won't be worked hard when new and it will last longer than the smallest battery that will work the first year.
