I just bought my first Ferguson, a TE20. I see model designations of TE, TEA. and TO can someone tell me the difference?

Thanks,
Jack

Here is a visual for the Cont. Motor and the Standard motor. What is your TE's Serial Number?

The major differences are the engines. The TEA-20 used the Standard Motors engine and was built in Coventry, England I believe. The TO-20 and the TE-20 used the Continental Z120 engine and the TO-30 used the Continental Z129 engine. The TO- series were built in Detroit and I believe the TE-20 was built in England. If I've made a mistake someone will correct me.

The TE20 was built at Banner Lane, Coventry from 1946 to 1948 with Continental engines, whilst Harry Ferguson Ltd was waiting delivery of the Standard engines. The TEA20, with Standard Motor Co engines were produced from 1947 to 1956.

TE = Tractor England. TO = Tractor Overseas (built at Detroit in the USA).

The tractor serial number is on the identification plate in front of the steering wheel. Once you have the serial number including prefix, look here:

<----- ----- "Research & Info", "Serial Numbers"

To identify the year and model.

And buy a service manual!!!! If you are in the USA, they are available from this web site.

Lastly - enjoy! You've just bought one of 517,000 grey Fergies, most of which are still going strong and dearly loved by their owners!
