May I send you an e-mail regarding a proposed wiring change on my '48 TE 20?
I have pasted two (2) CAD dwgs. into a MS Word document, depicting existing and proposed wiring schematics and need to know from someone knowledgeable, such as yourself, wether or not it will work as I have envisioned.
Thanks.
Dennis

I' not that knowledgeable r: charging systems but you can send me an email with your wiring schematics and I will glad to review them.

The change I am thinking of has nothing to do with the charging system. I am trying to figure out how to re-incorporate the safety starter switch (gearshift "s" position) into my modernized, 12 volt system.
I do not have access to your email address.
If you are wanting to keep it private, perhaps I can contact you through the Moderator?
Thanks for your time.

Dennis, assuming you have a 12V solenoid on your current system, with a key switch, you should be able to utilize your original shifter start switch by taking the "S" wire (starter) from the key switch (that wire should run to the solenoid), hooking it up to one pole of your original shifter switch on top the tranny, then run a wire from the "I" (ignition) lead off the key switch down to the other pole on the shifter switch. So, when you turn on your ignition with the key, it will power the shifter switch. When you engage the shifter switch, it will complete the circuit to the solenoid and engage your starter..... simple, yes?
Hmmm... that's actually a pretty good idea, I might do that myself on my TO. Thanks for the idea!

George
