Hydraulic control valve problem

My hydraulic control valve is rubbing up against the safety valve above it causing it not to go in and out smoothly. I forced the forks back past the sfety valve and it bent the rod way up on the control valve and I broke the control valve rod. What could be causing this?

You don't say what tractor you have. Saying things like "forced" and "bent the rod" does not go well with hydraulic control valves, they are precision parts and are not made to withstand all that so it isn't surprising that they are broken. I am presuming it is a TO20 or TO30 and the Control Fork should be nowhere near the Safety Valve unless the fork is not assembled correctly and that is about the only way it could happen. Have you or anyone had the control forks apart? they should hang straight down and move back-wards when you lower the lever, if the fork bends in the middle instead then the fork is assembled incorrectly. If you need pictures of how it should be, email me at:-

and tell me what you need or explain it more fully if I got it wrong.....John
