I am ready to order a new clutch disc, but in the parts manual there are 2 choices... I have a 1951 TO30. One is a "long" and the other a "rockwood". How do I know which one I need and what is the difference between them? thx

George is correct. If you have a Long presure plate, you can use a Rockford clutch disc if you can't refurbish/replace the Long clutch disc.
The Ferguson Shop Manual has pictures to show the difference. The Long presure plate is a "theee sided" affair while the Rockford is circular.

I think Jerry's right, the Rockford clutch was the standard clutch. Chances are in your favor that's the one you have. I may be wrong on this..... but I was thinking for some reason that the Rockford & Long clutch assemblies were actually the clutch pressure plate assemblies (metal part with all the springs inside of it), not the 9" fiberous clutch disc itself. The clutch disc itself has a splined center to mate-up to the trannyshaft, regardless of which clutch pressure plate you have, the tranny shaft is the same, so I'm thinking the clutch disc itself is generic to both pressure plates.
So long story short, if you just need the disc, get the ~$45 disc sold here, if you tear into the pressure plate assembly, you need to know if your looking at a Long or a Rockford.

According to the shop manual, "Most TO-30 tractors are equipped with the Rockford clutch,.... However, the following serial numbers are TO-30 tractors equipped with the Long clutch... TO-103262 thru TO-106684 & TO-107688 thru TO-108168". Then there is a and additional "NOTE: Whenever possible, Rockford clutch parts should be used to service all TO and TE tractors."

To add to the confussion, my TO-30 (that was built in '54 and is not included in the numbers above if I recall correctly, has a Long pressure plate!
