I replaced my front tractor tires with truck tires (much larger and no deep grooves) and suspect that is my problem. Will jack her up tomorrow and see if spindle bearings are in need of repair. If I need to replace them, how to do it? Would prefer you email instructions. Thanks for any help.
Ben

Spindles drop out from the bottom.
At the top of the spindle, there is a nut and bolt that is holding the steering arm to the top of the spindle..... ...that bolt must be totally removed from the top of the spindle-as the spindle is grooved on the side and that bolt fits into the groove and keeps it from dropping out.
Took my a couple of hours more than a couple of curse words to learn that trick.
If it steered alright before the bigger tires, than taking spindles apart probably isn't going to fix much. If it turned tough with smaller tires than it could be A) dried out spindle and/or shot bearings on bottom of spindles.
It could also be an out of adjustment steering gears inside steering box. Or dried out steering box. Another thing to look at is your front axle pivot, as they get sloppy, so goes the steering.
I bought a TO20 with full size car tires and it was a pain to steer, especially and very slow speeds, not too bad once she was movin.
Good luck , Mark
by the way, there are rebuild/repair kits all over the place for the front spindles: they include new bearing, felt dust washer, and inserts that are pressed into top and bottom of spindle housing...these inserts need to be machined in order for spindle to go back in.
If spindle is really dry, worn, or rusty, it may need turned or replaced. Take care. Mark

Thanks a million Mark! Will follow your advice. She was a little hard steering before, but takes a lot of Norwegian steam to turn her now.
Thanks again.
Ben
