Hey Jeff, by "fuel filter" do you mean the sight glass and screen under the tank which has a shut off valve in it? Mine appears to have some crud in it, how would I get that out?

The Gasket and screen are easily replaced.

Yes, that is the piece. It is also commonly called a sediment bowl.

To remove the Glass bowl. Turn the knurl nut on the bottom to loosen the wire holder, swing the wire away and the glass bowl will come off. If it is a little stubern it is because the rubber gasket between the Bowl and the metal has hardened. These gaskets are readily available (<$5.00) Just pour out the gas and wipe out the glass.

Not too hard.

Rustynut,

You may want to be careful about the tank you get. The fuel tank for the TE's is slightly different than the TO's.

The difference is where the fuel filter goes. The TE has the filter positioned about 2/3's back and is positioned between the 3rd and 4th spark plug.

The TO Fuel Tanks have the fuel filter positioned near the back end so that the fuel filter falls behind the engine aft of the 4th sparkplug.

This positioning is to accomadate the Tool box on the TE's.

If you do not have the Tool Box below the Battery, and are not tring to keep maintain origonality (i.e. for show, restoration) Either tank will be functional. Just realize that if you get a TO tank you will have an interferance problem with the tool box and fuel filter.

That said, Sparex caries the TE Tank. Though I do not know cost. The part number is S42413. This tank, per the catalog, has two positions for the Fuel filter to accomidate the two models. Can be viewed at link below. Look in engine section.

Part number 181637M91 is listed on this site for 220.14 US. That is a very good price on a new fuel tank for anything, trust me.
