Now for a bit of history.I was 10 yeaars old. I believe this TE20 was purchased thru a MM dealer. They had taken on the Ferguson line.

The tractor was delivered setting in the bed of a pickup. We backed the pickup to a bank and drove it off the pick up and into the yard.Dad and the salesman were leanin up against the tractor. I was setting on the seat looking for the starter button. Couldnt find one and started thinking that the old man was pretty dumb for not buying a tractor with electric start. So I started playing with the gearshift lever. When I hit the start position I think I came up off the seat about a foot.Dad and the salesman were startled pretty good too. I decided it was a good time to vacate the seat and bring the cows in for milking. So y'all be careful and have fun with your tractors.

We probally nead a little more info. I agree most likely you have a TO-20 built in 1950. But the plate would read in print "TO20" then 27016 stamped.

But the PEO 2 makes no sence to me. So please help me out. Perhaps it is really TE 20. or TEA 20 or TE(some other letter, D perhaps) 20.

a) where are you getting this SN. The tractor SN would be on a plate attached just forward of the steering wheel.

b) what fuel does this tractor run on? Gas, Kerosine, TVO, Diesel etc.

c) Is there a cast number on the lower left hand side of the engine... Z120 or Z129 perhaps? If not is there an oil filter on the left hand side of the engine. See Picture.

d) is the gear shift lever cover plate a seperate piece by itself or is it one piece with the steering column?

These things will help us get it ID'd for you.
If you have the data plate in front of the steering wheel take a good look and see what it reads, PEO 2 does not correlate.

Jeff

Thomas. Someone may know what "PEO 2" means, but I don't - unless it is "TE20" or TO20"?

As you appear to be in Portland, Oregon, I'm guessing you most likely have a TO20? If so, TO20 serial number 27016 was manufactured in 1950 (From Ser No 14660 to 39162).

If, in the very unlikely event you have a TE20 which somehow found it's way into the USA, you have a tractor manufactured in 1948 (From Ser No 20895 to 77772).

End of the mind reading exercise for today!

Dad bought a new TE20 in 1948. It had the Continental engine. We lived in Nebraska at the time.

Steve. We live and learn! I knew the TE20 was sold in Canada but did not realise it was also sold in the USA.

Thomas. Is the transmission cast aluminium or cast steel? That should sort out whether it is a TE20 or TO20!

The TEA20 was the one not sold in the US. There was a big push in Canada right after WWII to buy British, to help the "motherland" get back on her feet. It was relatively austere at the time. To bring stuff into Canada from the USA was kind of special, Farmer's clothes and tobacco products most appreciated. The various US companies opened up "shadow factories" in Canada to avoid duties.

The TE20 with the cont. engine was produced for the US market. It wass available in 1947 and 1948 to supply Harry's distributors with tractors while he got his detroit plant built. The land for Ferguson Park was bought in Feb 1948, Construction was completed in July and Harry himself drove TO-20 SN 1 off the assembly line on October 11, 1948.

SN 48000 is said to be the last TE-20 with a cont. engine.
