Hi Everyone, its been a while since I posted. I hope all my tractor friends are doing good. I tried to start the old girl yesterday and she would run for about 5 minutes and then she would stop. I tried again with the same problem. I was looking at the card and noticed this brass wheel or knob at the back of the carb, It had almost wiggled itself loose to the point where is almost fell out of the carb. I turned it back in almost all the way. Tried to start her again and this time she ran like a clock. My question is this, what does that brass wheel or knob do? I quess over the months it has just worked itself loose and I hadnt noticed it. Thanks for all the great advise and stay well,,, Regards Barry

I believe the knob you are talking about is the main jet adjustment. If it's that loose that it's coming out you'll have too rich a mixture. Tighten the packing retainer nut once you get it adjusted properly to keep it from backing out.

Professionally restored Zenith 24T-2 Carby from my '53 TEA20-85.

That the brass knob you're talking about? Mixture control/main jet adjustment. Replace the packing washer. Open jet 1 1/2 turns. Start engine. Adjust mixture.
