Going from memory here, but I think that there is a gallery in the Head that sometimes blocks with sludge. You can get to it by removing the valve gear and by removing a plug screwed in the back of the Head, just probe it or blow it out with an air line. If that fails you have to remove the Head and check that oil is coming up into the Head from the Camshaft bearing. I have also heard of someone doing a quick-fix by fitting a Tee piece into the oil pressure gauge line and feeding the pressure into the back of the Head at the blanking screw, it apparently shows a drop in oil pressure if you do this as it is putting more oil up in the top than you actually need so you may need to restrict the oil flow in some way. Doing that will keep it going until the Engine requires a rebuild....John

Just to see if you get lucky, before taking the head off, I would change the oil using 5w-20 or 5w-30, and add two cans of Napa "Valve Medic". If it is safe to do so, drive the tractor around for a while with no load on it. If this is not possible, just let it sit and run maybe at 1/3 throttle, keeping an eye on the oil pressure and temp gauges. After running at normal operating temperature for a few hours, change the oil again using a quality 15w40 oil, such as Shell Rotella or Mobil Delvac. If the obstruction is caused by oil sludge or carbon, this procedure ought to take care of it. Good luck!!

The oil passage to the rocker arm assembly comes up from the back of the block through a drilled passage from the rear main bearing, to the rear cam bearing and then to the rear rocker arm support via a passage. It then enters the rocker shaft and lubes the rockers and then runs down the pushrod holes to lube the cam lobes and tappets. The passage may be clogged up and thats the reason your oil pressure is as high as 35 psi. Normal oil pressure is 25-30 psi. You"ll have to take the valves cover off, remove the rocker assembly, and run a wire down the hole to see if you can unclog it. If that doesn"t do it you may have to remove the head and try from that point. Someone else may have a better suggestion.
