I'm think about next season using this tractor to
pick about 5 acres of field corn. What would be a good single row picker and gravity wagon to pull if possible? Field is pretty flat.

Thank for the replies, the TEA-2085 rate around 29hp
I was thinking of a New Idea 323 single row, the frame seems to be fairly light and maybe a small gravity wagon on a 6 ton ton gear.

Here are a couple of pictures showing TO-35's and 1-row corn pickers. Top is from 1958. My grandfather, our 1955 TO-35, 1-row Wood Bros. picker and Ferguson W-JO-22 wagon. My sister and I are riding in the wagon. Still have the tractor and wagon, but not the picker. The bottom picture is from the 2006 Albert City, IA show. Lee Folkerts, his TO-35 and 1-row Belle City picker and my wagon. Both the Woods and Belle City pickers were at one time marketed through Ferguson and seemed to be good matches. I know of a couple of Wood Bros pickers near the old home town, but the problem is they're out amongst the trees and would be very difficult to retrieve and repair.

Greenest corn I have ever seen picked!! Is this sweet corn? and a snapper?? (instead of a picker?)

Well, there's a story behind that, too. The show was in the middle of August last year, so they planted some corn early in the spring to try and get some ready by then. Something happened to it (maybe got sprayed and shouldn't have) so they had to replant, making it even later. It was field corn and it was green, but the ears had matured enough that it actually picked pretty well. As to the snapper question, I'm not sure about that. I think Belle City had a couple of models and I don't know which one this is.

Ferguson teamed with the company that made the Bell City corn picker in the day. But as was said they are scares and much sought after.

The best picker to use is one that you can FIND. Around here they're a scarce as hen's teeth.

I've pulled both one and 2 row pickers with a TO-35. It works O.K. on dry, flat ground. But you ned a lot more HP on hills and in mud.

Seems to me that New Idea and Oliver pickers do a good job. I've used an AC picker, but it didn't do so well.

The gravity wagone will need to be small and not have extensions on the front.
