There have been several posts in the last week asking how to polarize a generator. Thus, with out going through all the threads, and at the risk all of this has been answered here is how the shop manual says to do it.

"When reinstalling generator or reconnecting leads after they have been disconnected, connect a jumper lead momentarily between battery and generator armature terminal before starting the engine. This provides a current surge from battery to correctly polarize generator. Do not operate tractor when generator is dis-connected."

I have read thru just about every post on the generator topic and there are alot of discrepencies between them.

I have a T0-35 Standard diesel with glow plugs and I bought the tractor from the backwoods mechanic that used to start it with ether, no glow plugs and directly jumping the starter.

I replaced the key switch, got all 4 glow plugs and resistor to work and she starts with out ether now. The electical schematic on Friends of Ferguson and the un-official site are vague. My manual show alittle but vague as well. My manual show my tractor as having 2 6volt batteries and negative ground. Now my tractor has one 12 volt battery using negative ground.

I think I still have wires to sort as generator shows no voltage output by testing battery terminals. I need to know connections between starter, generator, regulator and key switch. Being a diesel I can charge the battery and run the tractor for a week (no ignition) but some day I would like to use the lightsthird party image
