So I got the "20 all tore down. Took the clamshells off the brackets. Found some other clam shells on EBay and bought those. Got "em all painted up and then was carefully laying the clam shells in place on the brackets.
It weren"t pretty! Those funny holes and the bend of the shells didn"t quite line up with those original fat brackets...The wife was less than enthused with my oversight also. Found another fender on Ebay complete with brackets and with a hammer and some Bondo might be able to repair one old fender and pass inspection. Gee! I get to use a hammer on my tractor?? This might get to be fun...Oh where, oh where is my BFH??

Phil,
I'll probably get my behind in a jam on this but here goes. I bought a pair of skins off THIS sight and two problems: First and worst, the stiffener rib that goes from one side to the other is about the width of the rib to high on the fender which makes brackets for the work and tail lights that also have their matching pockets to fit over the rib in the wrong place. I had to take my brackets to work and put them in a 20 ton press, smash them flat, make a set of dies to push the pocket in the correct place. Second, the new skins are about 2 inches shorter from front to back than the originals. I got these Turkish made jewels to work but it was a long ways from a simple replacement. Needless to say I was pi$$ed and said some bad words something like the ones you said. There is another pair of skins which you can get, but with no picture and a description that I don't understand ( Clamshell type with LARGE lip and brackets) I didn't dare to order them. Has anyone ever heard of 2 types of clamshell fender for Fergusons. And just what is a LARGE LIP fender? This was after I got a pair of fenders WITH the brackets that were nothing like the originals. And with 30.00 extra freight to return them, now they're laying in the corner, too. Maybe I'm just a knothead that can't read writin!

BFH is common term here too. Remember Joel from Gasoline Alley. Didn't he have a sledge (and a jug)? He was always telling his sidekick, 'bring the sledge.' Nowdays we say bring the BFH. Or am I confusing old comics? lol.

LOL.... I was at a Air Force Depot shop once and on the tool wall they had a BIG outline and it was labeled BFH.
