Question???? I have a 1957 ferguson that i know the clutch is not bad in. I am thinking that it may have to do with the shifting pins under the shifting arm. But that is just a thought. The problem i am having is that it will not go forward and when u are sitting on it trying to shift it is constanly getting hung in gear. It will try to move a little but it will just nudge forward and then roll back. It was working just fine then quit. I have managed to get going once after this started and it worked just fine, then i shifted gears and lost all power again. the shifting pins under the shifter act like they are not catching nothing or pushing on nothing so i am just completly lost. If you have any ideas or a digram of the transmission i would appericate any help from any one. Thanks, Matt. Cates.

If the lever goes all the way into the position for selecting the gear but the tractor doesn"t move then it would appear that there is a break in the drive-line stopping the drive reaching the Rear Axle. On these tractors there is a special shear tube between the transmission and the Rear Axle which will break in two if the axle has high shock loads. To check it, remove the left round inspection plate on the side below the seat, you will see the tube in front of you above the Pump, there is a groove in in to weaken it so it will shear and this is the point to look at.If this is the problem then the Hydraulic top cover will have to come off and the tube replaced. If you need the information on how to get the top cover off, email me...John

On mine, the spring on the bottom of the gear selector broke and a piece of it fell and interfered with moving the selector. Does it feel like the selector is moving as far as it normally does? You may also notice more up and down play in the selector if the spring broke. Just a guess.
