Came across a dirt scoop. I don't know how hard they are to find or the average cost. hoping to get some feedback on how much they go for at auctions. owner wants $150. Seems alittle high, but it's in good shape. Also I'm still looking for 2 dozen thine's for a fergy weeder and a dozen teeth for a fergy rake.

I have an old Ferguson scoop that I paid $75 for it about five years ago. I wasn't familiar with it but found out a few nice things about it after using it. It only pulls forward, but when it dumps it flips over backwards. Now that is handy it you are backing up to an area and dumping. It also works well going forward and dumping on the run. Another feature is how it trips. After it is raised all the way up with a full load, if you lower it slightly it is made to trip so there is no rope pulling. I have a reversible King Kutter scoop and that thing is the pits to trip even with some modification. So the Ferguson one is much handier if you are pulling forward. Actually reversing the scoop and backing up to fill it is a pain unless you have loose stuff because of less traction in reverse.

Crem,

My scoop only dumps forward. It also has a metal "T" handle for tripping. I will have to try your trick to dumping by lowering it slightly.

I have also been looking for a scoop for the past few months. At least in N. E. Ohio anything I have seen for $100 or less was total junk. I'm waiting for the Spring auction season to start thinking I might find a deal then. If I found a really good one for 150 I would try to deal for 125 or so and jump on it. Jack
