Pooch. The TO20 wiring diagram is available on the FENA web site.

I have a question about the manuals.

Listed on this page are two separate items:

Ferguson TE20, TO20, TO30 Service Manual 197 Pages (Part No: MH-S-MFTE20)

Ferguson TO20 Service Manual 197 Pages (Part No: MH-S-MFTE20)

The part numbers and prices are the same. Are they the same book?

Welcome to the wonderful world of Ferguson and Merry Christmas! You will want to get a factory service manual (available on this site). A wiring diagram is in the manual as well as just about anything you need to know about the mechanics of this machine. There is also a Ferguson club called The Ferguson Enthusiasts of North America (FENA). This is a great organization full of knowledgeable people. You will receive several newsletters each year as well and only costs $15. The web address is : www.fergusonenthusiasts.com I just checked and the site is temporarily not available. Must be doing some maintenance or something. Best of luck!

Does it still have the generator or has someone in the past replaced it with an alternator?

Should be 6V pos ground. (Better spark at the plugs with the Pos goround.) Ignition switch is 4 positions.
1) off
2) Ign
3) Ign and lights
4) lights

Thanks for the info. I will check on the service book. The generator is still on the tractor but I will probably convert to 12 volt and go to an alternator. Again, thanks for the info and have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Jesus is the reason for the season.

RE: Coil Polarity

Actually the the small wire from the coil to the distributor should have the same sigh as the ground on the battery. When you convert to a 12V alternator, it will have a negative ground so that the small wire from the coil to the distributor should be on the negative (-) terminal at the coil. By the way, the coil will need replacementunless you add a resistor to the 6V coil if you go to 12V. The NAPA IC-14SB coil (~$15) does not require an external resistor. If you want to keep the 6V coil you must use a current limiting resistor in series with the coil wire to limit the coil current to 4 amps maximum.
