i saw one on ebay and was not sure if it was the correct one for my tractor. it was new and would have been a good spare for the price. mine is working fine so if it goes bad i will see if i can find a starter rebuild shop.

If you definately have to have a Lucas for authenticity I can't help you. But if you are looking for a new starter that will fit I have one. I had one made for a TE-20 several years ago (cost me almost $200) when I was having starting problems. Turned out that the starter was not the problem so I took it back off. It was on the tractor about a month. This is a Delco starter with the correct nose piece to properly bolt up to the TE model with the Z-120 engine. If you are interested please contact me. I am located in the St. Louis, Missouri area.

John

"It is not Lucas 25002F / M35G 1 L3 as that is the 12 volt starter for the TEA20"

Sorry, not a hope it will fit your TO20 or TE20. The M35G 1 is 12 volts, no "bullet head" to support the end of the armature shaft and the Bendix pulls back towards the starter motor, not forward like I think the TO20 and TE20 starters.

Lucas M35G 1 from my TEA20:

i was wondering if the delco starter would work. are the flywheels the same in a to20 and te20? was the bellhousing the difference in which starter would work? what about changing the distributors? i thought i read somewhere that the te20 had a different ringgear in the rearend than the to20. supposed to have a little better pulling power with a te20.

Sparex list the replacement TE20 starter motor part number as S60354 (6 or 12 volts????), Bare-Co as part number B7200 (12 volt replacement), although Bare-Co show a solenoid mounted on the starter motor.

It is not Lucas 25002F / M35G 1 L3 as that is the 12 volt starter for the TEA20, which is totally different.

Duner may be on the money, Lucas P/N 25505, as the TE20 (Continental engine) finished production in 1947. Lucas P/N 25519 1948-51 would be the 6 volt starter to fit the Standard engine.

You can use a Delco you have to grind the starter nose and do some grinding in the bellhouse. my dad work for Ferguson and did this to a Te20 I sure would like to have that tractor now It had a 35 seat gray/green paint Z129 head the ferguson tractormeter It would sure out work a To20

Here is what my book says. 1946-47 Lucas #25505.
1948-51 25519. Fits the British Massey Ferguson.
I know it was Harry Ferguson till 54-55 or so.
