Is there a difference in Mineral Gear Lube 90 and Mineral Gear Oil 90 or are they one in the same? I have a TO-30 and have been using Mineral Gear Lube in the differential and sometimes, when its cold, lift is a little sluggish. Would like some comments. Hello John (UK), glad to hear things are going better for you. I have been under the weather for the past year, doing better now..... ...Thanks..... .....

Mine will too. I flushed mine with 20W during the heat of summer a few years back letting it heat up while mowing and draining hot. Let it drip overnight, then went in with the right stuff from my M/F dealer. Why try to save a few bucks averaged over several years with some off-brand? Still clean as a whistle after 6 years and works like a new one. Never left out in the rain. Still dead on the full mark.

I know it should be 90 wt mineral oil, but also not sure of gear lube. Where did you buy the oil? Check with Feg dealer, good oil is very cheap compared to parts and labor.

how long since you changed the transmission/hyd oil in tractor?

my old to-35 lift goes up smooth in cold weather.
note: I did once add 1/2 qt Lucas transmission oil treatment to system.
Little fellow's lift system will still pull front of tractor off ground.

Even down here in Texas 90W mineral gear lube can get a little sluggish in cold weather. The specs call for something thinner up north, but I do not intend to be changing out lube twice a year and the thin stuff is not recommended above some temperature which is the norm here most of the year. Sorry to be a little vague, but I do not have my manuals here.

At any rate, during cold weather I just let my tractor idle in neutral with the PTO engaged until the engine temp comes up and that is sufficient to warm the rear end as well. I assume sc in your handle means South Carolina and conditions should not be much different from here.

Thanks TexMac, wasn't really having much trouble until the other morning, it was 25 degrees, and the lift would hardly go up, somewhat jerky. This am it did fine, 49 degrees. Guess I will have to live with it, I don't use it that much in the Winter. Thanks..... .....
