Just read in latest issue of Hot Rod magazine that gasoline is for washing parts, alcohol is for drinking and nitro is for racing....at $30 a gallon. Might as well add some humor into this crazy mess. ohfred

Kerosene used to come in bulk and, like diesel was half the price of gasoline - but that was when I was in short pants!!
These days it is more expensive than gasoline and comes in plastic bottles, so the fuel companies can gouge you on price!! :x
I bought one liter of engine oil recently, bulk is no longer available so had to buy one of those plastic pre packs at Aus$8.50 (US$7.60).
A barrel of crude oil is 152 liters and currently costs around US$90. At US$7.60 per liter for pre packed engine oil, that is US$1,155.20 per barrel or 1,283% above crude oil cost!!!

The Australian Government has just taken the four major oil companies head on and is talking of bringing an independent refiner into the market.

Substitute Jet A1 for kerosene or diesel. If you use it in a diesel engine, add a small amount of engine oil. Jet A1 is far cheaper than gasoline or diesel and if you check out aircraft operators, some may have Jet A1 which is time expired for aircraft use, and thus very cheap.

I ran Jet A1 in a diesel John Deere tractor we used as an aircraft tug for many years with no apparent signs of damage to the engine.
Gasoline in Australia is around Aus$1.50 (US$1.35) per liter or approximately US$5.40 per US gallon.

I hope your Kerosene is cheaper than ours. Here gas (petrol) is running around 3.00 dollars/gallon US and Kerosene is 4.75 in bulk when you can find it. Its in the stores as fuel for small heaters and is nearly 6.00 dollars/gallon. It used to be kerosene was cheap but those days are gone, additionally Kerosene would not have road use tax on it so I'm baffled as to why its so expensive here in the US

Alan,

We'll assume you are not in the US as TVO was not a normal fuel in N. America. IF you are in the UK be advised you need a permit to mix TVO fuel. These permits are available through the UK Ferguson Heritage Club Bob gives the link to. They also have the details about the process. Their site is excellent and has good info.

TVO at Friends of Ferguson Heritage.

Two (2) parts petrol/gasoline and one (1) heating oil/kerosene comes out at 72 Octane and is a good multi purpose fuel.
