Don't laugh but I just don't know. Ipicked up this 1947 TE20 that I have been trying to restore with very limited knowledge of tractors. I am replacing the front tires, but when I really look at them the inside of the tires seem to be wearing because they are contacting the tractor when making tight turns. When I bought the tractor it had 6.50 16 tires. Are these the correct tires or should I buy 5.50 or 6.0. Maybe a dumb question to you expert tractor guys but I just don't know the answer. Any help is appreciated. Bob

Bob, not a dumb question. If you walk around tractor & implement yards & auctions you will see all kinds of tire combinations so it can be hard to sort out the original equipment. Richard had it right, 4.00X19 tires were OEM, that's what I have on my TO20. 6.00X16 were optional. When I'm driving thru my yard in the Spring I sure can see the advantage to the wider tires, those 4 inch 3 rib tires leave a pretty good mark in the yard.
Sounds like when your ready to replace tires you may want to go a little narrower. You can also widen your axle to move the tires away from the chassis. Your axle is just bolted together, remove the bolts, pull out the axle a notch and rebolt.

Bob, after going on left column of this page under Research & Info clicking on Search this Site then in the search box I typed in TE 20 front tires and I got a lot of previous discussion on the front tires.
John (UK) and several others say 400-19 was original equipment and 600-16 was optional. Others used wider tires because of loaders or didn't want to sink as much as standard tires.

Bob, I'm not sure where you are located but I bought a 4 X 19 yesterday at TSC. It was about $45.00 plus the tube. Jack
