Well... Its not exactly a new project. Been working on it for over 2 years now.

I finally drug the 30 outta the snow bank and into town and put it in my garage to work on.

Soon as the door closed I was already working on it :D - Weee bit excited to make progress again.

I took off the shift cover too look inside and getta look see on how much damage there was and get a general estimate on how many more millions I'm gonna have to waste on the ferguson to get it working properly again.

It actually looked REALLY clean compared to the rest of the tractor - so maybe I wont have to fix anything but the 3 point.

Spent a couple more hours on it today scraping grease and cleaning the bellhousing area. Next up is assembling the sherman trans to install it later in the week.

The engine a really $$$$ short block at the moment. It needs the oil pump installed and the rear seal. Then I need some short head studs and put valve seals on the intake side. Theres other stuff im forgetting 8)
Ive been working on the stupid thing for over 2 years now. I'm approaching the 5000 mark and still need rear tires, a rear rim, powder coat the wheel centers, 2 fenders and lights - so I hope

Glad to see you have the motivation to get working on it again. It sounds as if you won"t have to do too much to get it functional. Does the engine start or run?

Did some more diggin on the tractor this morning. Pulled the lift cover and looked at the cylinder / pump and all that fun stuff. Looks like I should be able to rering the cylinder and call it good :D Theres sludge in the bottom - should be able to clean it up real easy.

Theres some rust on the ring gear - dunno if I'm gonna worry about it - I'm not to fond of tearing into the rear axle just to clean it.

Next I think Im gonna yank the pump out and replace the safety valve since its prolly sticking or something silly and causing my lift problems I had.

Do you know if a Sherman from an 8N will fit in a Ferguson?

The cases are different and u'll lose the start feature that the ferguson has.

Theres a few pics of the differences between the 2 cases. Look in the parts and pieces section and search under my name - theres a few pics of the 2.

Matt, looks like you are on your way. Change the tranny oil, that stuff looks like it has water in it. Other than that, looks good.
