Got a better photo of the dash showing the red charge light hole on the right side next to the large hole for the oil pressure gauge. On the other side of the steering column is another large hole that might be the location for a temperature gauge and a small hole to the left next to that is good for what? The two small holes with square edges at either corner are the two missing carriage bolts.

The left side of my TO-20 dash where you have the small round indicator light I have another 2 inch large round hole where the oil pressure gauge is located. That means I have 3 gauges - temperature, ammeter, and oil pressure. The ammeter for me is a whole lot more useful than the indicator light. My ignition switch is a 3 way that is wired as follows - middle is off; one direction is ignition and lights; the other direction is ignition only. This allows me to run the tractor with no possibility of lights or the possibility of lights. The pull out light swtich is connected to the ignition and lights side of the ignition switch so I can turn the lights on or off when I want to without shutting off the ignition. This setup works well for me - the tractor was wired this way when I got it.

I meant to say on the RIGHT SIDE. Jerry makes a good point - the sensor for the TO-20 is on the right also.

The way my TO-30 is set up, the oil pressure gauge is to the right. (The block tapping for the oil line is on the right side of the engine.) To the left of the steering column is the ammeter and to the left and below, is the temperature gauge.

It could have been for a light switch if you have lights fitted to that Tractor, we used to fit one at that point in the UK. In the USA they used a different ignition switch (bottom left below dash panel) this was combined with a light switch.
The hole on the left was for an optional temperature gauge and was normally fitted with a blanking plate. The combined lights and ignition switch is still supplied by Sparex as part S60820, being under the dash panel it is protected more from the weather.....John

Thank you Sir John!! in reply to John(UK), 03-30-2008 03:04:08
The Queen may not have bestowed such an honor upon you for international relations and I can truly say that it is her fault for being so shortsighted!
I am also of the belief that others on this board share the same sentiment.
I am also of the same opinion regarding the lightswitch versus the ignition switch. I believe I will install a plug into the light switch hole and install a water temp gauge into the other hole. Now to find a suitable water gauge.

I really don't know what to say about all that....lol. I will have to tell her next time I see her. Sparex do a suitable gauge which is part S04341 and I believe that NAPA also do one but I don't know the number for that. This Sparex one is the non-electrical type that uses the long capillary tube, but you could get an electrical one if you prefer. The adaptor that it screws into, which in turn screws into the top hose connection, you may have to locate somewhere else, although I think Sparex supplies one with the gauge to go into a Ferguson...John

On the TEA20 the left hole had a blanking cap ex factory - no gauge fitted. It was intended for the optional water temp gauge.

I have to be careful about popping in caps on this particular dash. It might damage the Bondo lying under the paint...LOL
