Hi All----if the ID Plate behind the steering wheel is missing, are there any other ways to ID what model Ferguson tractor you have?

I do have the 2000 Edition of the "Ferguson Tractors Quick Reference Guide" by David Lory and Robert Brochier.

Are there any engine numbers, markings ontractor parts, front/side mount distributors that would help to ID the old Fergusons up thru the TO 30"s?

Any help would be apprecieated----Thanks

Look on the right side of the block. If there is an oil filter near the back of the block it"s a Z129 engine and the tractor will be a TO-30. Look on the left side of the block near where the cylinder head and the block join about midway down the length of the block. There should be a data plate with an engine serial number on it. It will say Z129. XXXXX or Z120.YYYYY . I fit"s a Z120.YYYYY Y you have a TO or a TE-20. If you have Lucas elctrics, it"s a TE-20. If it"s Delco electrics, it"s a TO-20.
( No external oil filter on the TE- or TO-20) If it says Z129.XXXXX X it"s a TO-30. Record those engine numbers because Jim in OH has a correlation of engine number versus model vear.

You could also have a TEA-20 with the Standard Engine made in England. It will have an external oil filter on the left hand side and Lucas electrics.
You can also have a hybrid but I won"t go into that.

Hope this helps.

First of all look under the dip stick there should be a cast number Z 120 is either a TE 20 or a TO 20 Z 129 is a TO 30. I am not up on the TEA's but if you look in the archives on the left I know it is in there. If you have a Z 129 there should be a engine ID plate behind the coil between # 2 & 3 spark plugs JUST BELOW the cyl. head. If you can post those engine ID numbers as long as it is a Z 129 we can come fairly close to the year. Richard
