My 1958 TO-35 needs rims and tires on the rear. I can't find any decent used, so where is a good (CHEAP) place to find 13X24 rear rims??? The tire size on there now is 14.9X24, and the calcium really did a number. Tires are shot too. THANKS!!!

Now I understand....

"Aqueous calcium chloride (in solution with water) lowers the freezing point as low as -52°C (-62°F), making it ideal for filling agricultural implement tires as a liquid ballast, aiding traction in cold climates."

As it is an oxidizing agent, I can imagine what it would do to steel rims....

I bought tires and rims from the Tucker Tire Company in Tennessee, not sure where your located. I got a great deal and prompt, reasonable delivery from them. They have a "store" on Ebay, but I called them at the store directly. 12.4x28 THORN AND FLAT RESISTANT 8 PLY tractor lug tires on six loop wheels are priced at $783.00 not including shipping. Here's the link:>Link

Calcium>Link loading had ruined the rims on my newly aquired TE20, I haven't and probobly wont load the new tires, but back on the farm we used to load them with windshield fluid (low temperature type due to very frigid temps in Upstate NY). When calcium leaks out of the tube, it will destroy steel at an accelerated rate rusting very quickly. It will usually begin to "seep" aroung the edges of the rim, rotting it and making reuse of a rim impossible.

My two cents...good luck!

"....and the calcium really did a number"

I'm curious - I assume you use a chemical in the water in the rear wheels due to sub zero temperatures in winter? But why calcium - I can't imagine calcium has any properties that would reduce the freezing point of water?

(To explain perhaps, if it ever snows where I live in Australia, it will be the beginning of the next Ice Age!!! Snow or sub zero temperatures at sea level in Australia is virtually unheard of.)

The "calcium" probably refers to calcium chloride. I think the mixture then becomes more dense than water as well as lowering the freezing point of water.

Since the tires are shot, why not consider going to the original size, 12.4x28 with rims to match which will be several hundred dollars less. But i admit I like the look of the 14.9x24 on mine but economic sense finally won.

My tire store has them, and can get anything I need for as good a price as I can find anywhere else.
