I am in the middle of a clutch change on a to20, and noticed that the end of the input shaft for the transmission has alot of play in it? It is not leaking at the seal though. Is it supposed to be like that? Does the pilot bearing in the flywheel provide the support that it needs?

Yes it does, the pilot (or spigot) bearing should be changed while you have the Clutch off the flywheel as they are only small and are better changed each time, same with the Thrust Bearing on the pedal. Make sure that you set the pedal clearance correctly to 3/8" measured under the footrest....John
