I just had the carburator on my '50 TO20 rebuilt, but after I picked it up I noticed that the air shutter plate was locked in the open position by the spring on the shaft. It seemed to me that it was in the closed position before. What's right?
The carb is a marvel schebler model TSX. Any info would be helpful.
Thanks, Alan

if you are talking about the actual plate asm. it should always be in the open position. If you are talking about the spring loaded relief on the plate itself it should be closed. it must also be in the bottom position.

When I rebuilt mine it was in the open position so that is how I put it back. On my 20 the rod that you use to put on the choke has no way to lock it in either position so I would assume you would want the spring to hold it open.
