My 1950 TO20 was just overhauled including a rebuillt carb. After I got it back, I was amazed at how well it started and ran. After abou three days of use, yesterday it began to stall after it got warmed up. It will start right up again but only runs for a few seconds and then quits again. Anybody have a solution? Also, right behind the fan on the upper right hand side of the engine there's an ell-shaped piece of metal that pins on to the governor shaft or the throttle shaft. It has a small hole that looks like it should attach to a spring. What is it and where would it attach? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

There is a long rod that runs from the dash to the front of the tractor. This has a bracket clamped to it by a U bolt near the front of the tractor and there is an ell piece attached to that. If thats the one you are talking about then this should help.
Stand on the right side of the tractor and sight just under the flat metal support the front of the gas tank sits on. You should see either a hole or a hole with a cotter pin in it on the vertical support for that flat piece. If there is a cotter pin just hook the spring in the head of the pin. If not put a pin in the hole and then hook up the spring.

The governor shaft attaches to the throttle shaft adjacent to the throttle shaft front support. It hangs vertical and the bottom end has a spring that attaches to the ell shaped bracket, at the end of the leg. If this spring is missing the governor won't work properly. I think Peter is correct though, this sounds like a lack of fuel. Disconnect the fuel line at the carb. and check the flow. If ok there, check the screen just inside the carb. where the fuel line attaches, it may be plugged with foreign material. Do not use air pressure to clean this screen you will blow it into the float bowl along with what's in it. It should be clean if you just rebuilt it though. If you purchased a rebuilt carb. it may have something wrong internally, unfortunatly it's not unusual.

sounds like a gas supply problem. check that your gas line is not to close to the exhaust manifold, if that is ok then I would check for good fuel flow to and thru the carb.
