My TO30 had been converted to 12 volt prior to my purchasing it. However, I am having a problem with the charging
system and would appreciate advice on what to do to correct it. I have a Delco Alternator (It has 12 a stamped on it). It is
presently hooked up as a 1 wire. I also have a voltage regulator and that is where I have the question. Do I need a voltage
regulator? When the tractor is started, it only charges about 6 on the voltmeter of the tractor. It appears to me something
is not hooked up right or I don't need the voltage regulator. I need some advice on what the wiring is for a 1 wire
alternator, or any suggestions you have. Thanks in advance. By the way, I have looked at the Genesee Products page,
but they don't say anything about a voltage regulator.

THE 1 WIRE ALTERNATER IS A SELF EXCITING REGULATOR ALTERNATER AND YOU CAN DO AWAY WITH YOUR REGULATOR ;;;; 1 HOT WIRE STRAIGHT TO THE HOT POST ON THE BATTERY, JUST PUT IN A PROTECTIVE LOOM YOU SHOULD HAVE BETWEEN 13.2 TO 13.8 VOLTS AT THE BATTERY,CHARGING , THIS THE THE WAY MY TO 30 IS GOOD LUCK

Part of me wants to say that early alternators had external regulators but I'm not sure. If there is an alternator repair shop in your area you might ask them or take yours in so they can see it and be sure. I just put a 12V system in my 20 but I used a 3 wire alternator with and internal regulator.
