I was mowing yesterday and when I quit I heard bubbling in the gas tank. When I checked gas was boiling in one spot above the exhaust manifold.
I know there was a post on this subject in the past but I can't find it. PLEASE give me some ideas, not ready to meet my maker yet. ( At least not before the field is done being mowed) The engine temp was only about 165 degrees, plenty of antifreeze and belt tight, fan blade on correct and no grass plugging rad. I did adjust the fuel mix thinking it may have been too lean causing the exhaust to run hotter.
Ran it after but it was cooler and not so long didn't happen. Please any ideas???
Thanks,
Joe

You may have solved the problem by enriching the mixture. Too lean and the manifold can get red hot. You would only see that in the dark.
Also check your gas cap and make sure it is the vented type and the vent holes are open. Did you look into the radiator to see if the water was circulating?

Jim,
Thanks and yes the cap is vented and I did check to see if the pump was circulating and it was. Engine did not overheat.
Did this happen to you? I remember someone with this post before.
Thanks
Any one with other ideas just in case?

When I first got my Fergie the radiator was plugged tight with hayseeds. It was running hot.
I have seen a few manifolds glowing red when the mixture is too lean. I think this is the post you were looking for.
