James, What you have is a Ferguson Type A, commonly known as the Ferguson Brown. These tractors were built for Harry Ferguson by David Brown, of Meltham, Huddersfield, Yorkshire between 1936 and 1938, and over 1200 were produced. These tractors are very rare in the U.K. let alone the U.S., and I would guess that yours will be fairly unique in the States. I was looking at one last week in Scotland for which the owner wanted £10,000 to part with it. This is on the expensive side, but these tractors regularly make £6,000 to 8,000 at auction, in the U,K, particularly if in running order. I think your plan to give the tractor to your local agricultural college is an excellent one. There it will be appreciated by generations of students much more than if sold privately. Well done. If you need any further information just e-mail me. I hope this has helped. Regards, Pete.
