I have a Ferguson TO-20 and have adjusted the hand control lever according to the manual. My problem is the implements will not start to lower until the hand lever is about 2 inches from bottom of it's travel. The implements also raise all the way up when you move it a inch or so from the bottom. Would this be a control valve problem? I replaced the valve a couple of years ago when I replaced the piston and rings on the lift cylinder. Any Ideas?

Craig..when you say the control lever is adjusted according to manual..do you mean the quadrant adjustment? If not this is how my manual says to adjust it. Quadrant adjustment is correct when the implement in a raised position (control lever in topmost position on quadrant) will start to lower when the control lever is moved downward and reaches a point 2 1/2 inches plus or minus 1/8 inch from its topmost position. If the implement starts to lower before of after the specified control point of 2 1/2 inches, loosen the four quadrant assembly attaching cap screws, and move the quadrant assembly forward or rearward until the correct adjustment is obtained. The end of my control lever shaft was worn flat. Built it up with a welding rod and then ground it back round. That gave my control lever back it's push. The control lever pushes the top of the control fork. The control fork pivots to pull the control valve out of the pump, releasing work cylinder fluid.

Ray... Thanks for your imput. I adjusted it just how you described but it still won't lower until it is near the bottom. I guess I will have to pull the shaft and see if it is worn like yours used to be. Thanks again for your imput. Craig

I have the same trouble with my TO-20 lift. I just finished tearing all that apart and putting it back together. I broke the arm off of the Hydraulic lift shaft. I noticed the pivot holes in the hydraulic control fork assembly were worn oblong. I suspect this may be the problem as it looks like it would keep the control lever shaft from adjusting up as tight to it as it needs to. This is just my observation and may not be the case. Any more opinions out there?
