I have a 2-Speed lever on my TO-30 not sure if it is a Sherman, I have heard that some have 3 possions on the lever, mine has only 2 if in the middle it is free/wheeling. Question is if in high is it like a regular ratio TO-30 with out one? Then dose it only realy give you a LOW range? I heard that some you can pull the lever out for a 3rd range giving you 12-forward gears total. Someone out their must understand this system better than I do. My lever is in front of throw out bearing area and comes thru a hole in the side. The lever forward is low and back is high (might be just reverse of what I said), is this a Sherman 2-speed? Maybe its been said befor but I can't find it in the archives. Thanks for any help. Mark H.

Hey Mark I copied this from john Smith's tractor page.Is your aux trans lever on the right side? Look at the lever end, look for the name HUPP.Your tranny reminds me of the HUPP aux tranny that I saw in an 8n,The middle position was nuetral.

The popularity of the Sherman transmissions induced other manufacturers to offer their versions of auxiliary transmissions. One such company was the Hupp Corporation. Their "Dual-Drive" over/under transmission was similar to the Sherman unit but the shift lever was on the right hand side of the tractor. Hupp offered two models of the Dual-Drive with different gear ratios and also a straight ovedrive (step-up) model.

Good Luck

My shift lever is on the left side and is "L" shaped 1/2inch in dia. with a knob 3/4 inch in dia casted metal and close to the tractor, you can't get your fingers around it. Don't remember any writing on it but will look tommorrow. I will look at the site and see if it helps. Thanks for the information any will help. Mark H.

Bill; THANKS!!! I found mine! It is a Sherman Combination, I put my boots on and went out in my long underware and looked again, funny you use something a lot and still forget how it looks! The lever looks just like the one in the picture (Sherman) and dose stick out, it is the flat part that is close. Tommorrow I will try and shift it into the 3rd posision never tried befor. I just pushed it back and forth. If I have a in between ratio that would be nice cause sometimes it is to high or to low for best speed. Thanks Alot! Mark H.
