Almost a disaster

Well I'll be darned if I didn't drop the #%@***&^$@ thing into the transmission as I was reinstalling the pin.

I had already resigned myself to taking off the steering box and spending the rest of my day undoing everything I had done in the last three months. I knew I would be able to reach in and get the little sucker in ten seconds once I had the top off of the transmission.

As I came fuming in the front door looking for a beer, my lovely wife asked if I had a magnet . . .

Sometimes things are so simple.

I had my own grumbling yesterday. (and am still having it)

I got my '48 TE20 last fall and I am in the process of changing out all the fluids. (who knows when they were last done.... right?) I go to change the transmission fluid (which has water in it BTW) and pull the forward plug... woosh my 1.5 gallon bucket is rappidly filling will it over flow????? ? Ahhh. the flows slows before it overflows. Empty that out. Open the main drain.... *%*&%&*$@# I droped the cap into the oil pan. Finally I get all the plugs pulled and let her drain for several hours. However, I only have 4 1 gallon jugs to store the old oil in. I didn't thint this would be a problem however as I can store the last 2 gallons in the oil pan until I empty the new oil in the tansmission and have those jugs.

I put all the plugs back in and start to fill it up. When I go to empty the oil pan.... There's the bloody seal ring for the main plug. Now too put this seal back on I have to drain the new fresh oil out again. Arrrrr rrrrrgh.

Well it's not the end of the world and it will probally not even leak but it will bug me until it is back in.

My day started great! Zanethang arived @ 11:30. I had it in the garage at 11:35 and started to install. Then the day slowly fell apart.Seams that the pin on the lift arm was rusted fast. I heated and beat , removed the fender, heated and beat ,worked it back and forth penatrating fluid until I couldn't stand it. finially the pin gave way(1.5hours) and the zanethang was active.In my infinate wisdom I decided to change the oil(TO-20),long story short oil changed 3 hours later.I hooked up the box blade for a z-thing test run.Two hours later I need to weld up the box blade in two places. Thank god the beers cold and the wifes in a good mood! Zanethang worked great!!!
