I was wondering if any other farmers thought it would be a great idea if Long Manufacturing would introduce a 130 HP tractor similar to what they are doing with the Farm Trac Series. This tractor could based on the old Ford 8630 model. This tractor with the Ford 401 engine and a synchronized transmission would be a value priced alternative to the newer more expensive tractors which sometimes have a lot of overkill for most farms. If any one has any comments or suggestions I would appreciate your reply.

While its true Ford did not offer a syncronized trans in the TW/_30 series tractors, I beleive they are some of the best tractors of their day. I have never run short of HP with one. The later series 2 cabs were better than some of the newest cabs. (I have run both) If Long could buy the rights and manufacture it to original Ford specs I would be one of the first to buy one. In my area there are many TW's running around, many have had 12000 hours or more before needing any engine or trans work. Most of that was from operators failing to stop when the trouble started.

Yah, I have a comment on that one. We don't need anymore TWs running around! The few that are is a few more than I care to see.

Not many liked the "real thing", and I doubt many would like the cloned version.

P.S. Ford never had a synchronized transmission for this series. One of the many reasons I didn't like them!
