If you still want to identify your tractor,I would need to see some pictures. If it is a Sears kit I would need to know the diameter & width of the rear steel wheels to determine what year it was manufactured.

Yes, Sears did offer a conversion package for the T and the A. Later on, they even had a package to take the under carriage of the A and other cars and convert them to hay wagons. Funny, you don't here the expression "waste not, want not" spoken too freely in the American scociety anymore...

I'm reading a book that has a section on "tractors" like this right now. Apparently there were many companies that specialized in making conversion kits for the Model T which would allow it to be used as a tractor. The idea was to bolt on the conversion pieces, farm with it during the week, then re-convert it to drive to town on the weekend. Many of these companies closed during the post-WWI economic downturn.

Then, when Henry Ford stopped domestic production of the Fordson at the end of 1927 or the first of 1928, a new wave of conversion companies appeared. Since the Model T was discontinued at about the same time as the Fordson tractor, many of these companies built kits for the Model A as well. This must be what your friend has. If he looks closely he might be able to find a company name on the tractor components. As far as purchase from Sears, maybe the kits could be had this way, I don't know.

Let me know what you find out.
