I just bought a 1972 ford 4500 with a front end loader, but it is in need of an engine overhaul. has anyone had this done? how much money am I going to have in it (ballpark) the main problem is the #1 cyl has only 35 pounds of compression and the others have about 70 plus we are getting alot of blow by out the vent tube. any help or info. will be greatly appreciated.

If its that bad you might as well figure that the engine is coming out of the unit and getting a total rebuild.It all depends on how bad it is and how much you're going to do with it. If it is going to be used for your own personal use I would pull it down and rering it if possible. You might only have $500.00 in it at the most for parts (rings,rod bearings,gasket set and outside machine work on the head.)If you're really going to work it get ready for $2500 to $3000 Your call. Good Luck
