Anyone else have a van of this vintage? I have several tips on keeping some of the more aggravating problems under control and am looking for new helpful info not found in the shop manuals.

i own a 1971 Ford Econoline 200 5.0 v8 manuel transmission. i bought it a few months ago from my hippie neighbor. he was the original owner. i love it .it runs fine. i've already taken a few trips in it. the original shifter located in the steering column was replaced with a 3-speed Hearst shifter located on the floor. it's given me a few problems but i'm sure i've fixed that problem. i would, however, like to reinstall the original shifter. the only other problem is because of old parts not being properly maintained. my water pump needs replacement because i have a dime size hole on top of my water pump from leaking hoses.
i would appreciate any and all helpful tips.

Hey there,

yeah, I have a ford econoline 200 but it has an automatic tranny. I just got it and I've had to mess with the choke to get it to run right when cold. my biggest problem is rust. I'm pretty mechanical, so If you have any questions, give me a holler.. my first issue is where to find a cheap replacement for my leaking roof vent.

take care and drop me a photo of your van if you can.

Scott.
