Though I've never posted this board I visit frequently to read the commentary. I just recently diagnosed and cured a Jubilee lift problem with assistance from the Ford n-board and my manual so I figured that naturally this was the place to fix the ails with my dads mid-70s Ford 2000. The 3-pt only raises in the upper 1/5 of the quadrant and when it begins slowing leaking down it will not correct itself. With the lift working like this it is aggrevating as !!$# to operate. It will pick up anything you hook it to and doesn't leak down rapidly. But with it like it is now it is either all the way up or all the way down. The top cover and linkages were overhauled about two years ago and my dad does a pretty good job maintaning the tractor. It worked fairly well for a while but is in need of some help. Would I be fairly accurate in assuming that the problem lies in the linkage adjustment and what is a good rule of thumb to start this adjustment. Checked the archives and read the manual but nothing jumped out at me. And from looking back I can see that this subject has been beat on pretty hard it just seems like everybody elses hiccups or has a little different situation.

First, check to see that the draft/position selector is in 'position' control. I believe the lever should be in the vertical setting. Barring that simple solution, removal & re-adjustment of the hitch cover & its controls will be necessary.

We're on the same page with the draft lever(vertical) but that has very little effect if an on the way in which the lift operates. Control spring is also adjusted properly. Any ideas on where to start as far as adjustment goes since I don't have the jig to adjust the lift with. (If that is even the major problem or compounding a more serious one.) I've been around these old fords for a long time I just thought I would indulge on everyone else's misfortunes in hopes not to make some of the same mistakes.

I can give you a proceedure for adjusting the linkages on that 3cylinder 2000 using an inexpensve inside/outside caliper as long as it has a depth gauge rod that protrudes from the handle when you open it up. Just have to get back to work to brush up on the details. I'll get back to you in a day or so.

Sounds great, thanks in advance!! I don't mind a little trial and error but from past experiences I have found that you can mess up in a hurry or become so frustrated that your wife can't/won't live with you.

OK Randall, I'll assume you've: Removed the lift cover without damaging the jumper tube. Checked for bent, broken, or stuck linkage parts, and worn-out cam follower pin. Replaced the piston o-ring & backup, o-rings between the cylinder housing & lift cover. Checked unload & control valves for smooth operation & replaced o-ring or cast seal ring on unload valve. Now: Set the draft control main spring tension. Place the position/draft selector in draft (parallel with lift cover). Remove the baffle & cover plate from the valve housing end opposite the control valve operating rod. Rotate the rockshaft to the raised position. Place the lift lever 3.75" below the quadrant top stop. Adjust the turnbuckle till the end of the control valve spool protrudes from the bushing 0.144". Position control: Selector in Position (perpindicular to cover), Rockshaft in fully raised position, lever resting against lower end of quadrant. Adjust the position control rod (long bolt running thru a coil spring) till control valve spool is recessed in its bushing 0.200". Switch back to draft & recheck the dimension. Hope this helps.
