I am converting my SOS trans to a manual. I am uncertain of the year but think it may be a 68. How compatible are the years? is there an easy way to verify the year? and looking for leads on a good used manual transmission c/w conversion parts.

I'm no expert, but since you didn't get any replies....

Since people want to go this way, those trannies are in short supply, & a bit expensive. You might have to get your name on a waiting list at some salvage yards. Someone mentioned on here that they got one pretty cheap tho, not too long ago.

You can find the exact age of your tractor by the serial number stamped on it.

What Paul says is correct, but there is lots more to consider. The ring gear and pinion will have to be changed as the ratios are different. The complete pto assembly will have to be replaced. If you want independent pto, you will have to get a center mount hydraulic pump w/piggy back pto pump. Etc, etc, etc. In short, It ain't worth the trouble.
