I just converted my 801 to 12 volts. Have one puzzle that has me stumped. I have a red light on my dash that used to indicate key was on but no charge from the generator. after starting the motor the light would go out. now I have voltage backfeeding from someplace to the side of terminal strip that should be off with key in off position. the same side of terminal strip has the little red light on it. Do I need to put a diode in line between the red light and the terminal strip to stop the feed back?

I have posted before and have always benifited from all the knowledge thats out there.
Thank You all.

You have a GM one wire alternator with a 2-prong control plug? If so, the smaller plug wire is the exciter circuit and usually gets juice from the key. Put a diode in this wire to prevent the feedback. (1A, 50V, $.49 at Rat Shack).
