I bought a 4500 ford loader without the backhoe
now I want to add a ford hoe made for the 4500.
I think the hydrolic system uses open center
valves meaning ill need to hook the hoe hydrolics
in series with the loader valve. But im not sure
does anyone know?

Yes, this is an open center system. Originally the way the system was plumbed was oil first went to the backhoe valve, and then power beyond from there to the loader valve. This is in fact a series hookup. Plumbing them both in parallel will render both functions useless.
