Bob, I have drilled that flat boss and tapped in a temp guage. Works real well. thats the easy part. The hard part is finding a low range temp gauge.

I'm curious now. Just how low of a range does this gauge need to be? Most conventional temp gauges go down to 100 degrees F, and I'm sure the N's run warmer than that.

I AM USING A SENDING UNIT FROM A 57 TO 62 FORD CAR OR TRUCK. PN R134 1/8NPT 18 THDS PER INCH. USING A THERMAL GAUGE FROM A FORD TRUCK. ABOUT 1980. WITH 8 VOLTS APPLIED TO THE SYSTEM THE GAUGE READS ABOUT MID SCALE.

And from all that, how do you know what the overheating point is, or for that matter, if your setup is even accurate?

OK, that works for me. That leads me to my next question: Just what do you (or anyone else out there) consider to be the danger point as far as overheating goes on an "N"? Evidently Will up above thinks it's pretty low, as he had a hard time finding a temp gauge "that would go low enough". I'm still scratching my head on that one.
