I'm not geting any fire when pressing the starter. There is a new battery, new coil and new starter relay, new cables, all wires checked. Is the problem the starter motor?

I changed the primary filter and either there is condensation or there is dirt in the pump. Diesel comes out of line from the filter and I was told there is suppose to be a brass finishing filter going into the pump but there isn't. Should there be?

The tractor turns over but won't start and when I was going up a small incline it wasn't getting enough fuel and going down was ok.

To add a further note of caution...MAKE SURE the tractor transmission is in NEUTRAL. BEFORE you start hassling with the push button starter switch out of its mounting position, especially if you suspect there might be a malfunction with the starter.

These old machines are fun, useful, and pretty simple to work on, but they do lack the modern safety devices,

Take the wire off the starter button and check continuity between terminal & chassis ground. Should be open with button released, and near zero resistance with button pressed. BE CAREFUL! Inadvertantly grounding the wire going to the switch will cause the tractor to crank if the ignition switch is on, or if something is wired incorrectly.
