I would like to know where to check the fluid or oil in the rear end. Does the lift and the rear
end run off of the same fluid? What type of fluid or oil does it take. Also what causes the lift to jerk, about every 4 or 5 seconds, when it is raised up? Thanks, Jackey

If I'm not mistaken, New Holland(used to be Ford) recomends 134D fluid. If I'm wrong someone please correct me....Tony? Bern?

Yes, 134D is the current NH number for their hydraulic fluid.

Jackey there is a small pipe plug on the right side of the rear-end, pretty much below your seat. Take the plug out. Fill the rear-end up with a good grade of tractor hydraulic fluid until the fluid starts to flow out of the pipe plug hole. Some of the manuals you find will tell you to use 80 or 90 wt oil, but Ford changed their specs a few years ago to use hydraulic fluid. You are welcome to check with your local Ford- New Holland dealer on this. They say to use this in the tranny as well. Yes your lift works off the rear axle fluid as well. Mine used to hic-up too. I rebuilt the hydaulics last year. This winter I had the pump rebuilt at the dealership. Everything works great now. Good luck!

How far do you fill up the tranny? Until it overflows as well?

Yes you do. Maintain lubricant to the level of the plug located on the right side of the tranny just behind the brake pedals.
