I have a Ford 851 tractor that I need to connect
spark plugs to distributor cap. This web site tells me the firing order is 1,2,4,3 but here is where I need help. When looking at the spark plugs, do I read 1,2,4,3 from left to right? or right to left? Also, where does 1,2,4,3 go on the distributor cap?
Please advise.

Number 1 cylinder is closest to the radiator, remove the plug, put your thumb over the hole. Turn the engine over until the compression lifts your thumb from the hole. Look at timing mark on the flywheel and adjust to 5 degree before top dead center. The distributor rotor will now point to #1 pug wire socket. Now wire the distrubor in your firing order from #1 following the rotation of the rotor.

Thanks, its running now. If you clean the distributor off there is an a 1 on the cap just to the left of the clip that holds the cap in place on the out side of the engine. From there go clockwise with #s 2,4,3.

Thanks again.
