Just finished pulling the lift cover off my 860 because the lift wasn't functioning properly. As I suspected the pin on the position control arm was worn completly off. I also discovered that the position control arm and the control valve lever both have wear at the hole wear the control lever shaft goes through. My question is this: HOW MUCH WEAR IS ALLOWABLE FOR PROPER FUNCTION OF THE LIFT? My thought is that the positon control arm is not that important, and that the wear on the control valve lever will affect the operation of the lift (or at least the sensativity or amount of travel). Some insight and opinions would be appreciated Thanks

I would replace the worn follower pin, adjust the linkage to specs to compensate for any other wear, grease up whatever else you can, and go for it.

I think your right. I talked to the ford dealer today, the position control arm is $100 and the control valve lever is $148 the pin is $1.50. I looked at the parts again tonight and I dont think the wear is enough to cause troubles. Thanks for your info
