Can you identify this PTO bracket?

This bracket, mounted around my PTO shaft, came with the tractor when I bought it used. Can anyone identify it? I've had one person suggest that it holds the PTO shield (not cover), but I'd like to verify this or find out what it is used for.

Ben is right. It is a bracket for the PTO guard, and fits exactly as he said.

Yup, looks just like my 7700 Ford. I have the shield in place. I'm sure New Holland would order you one if you wanted to be safe, it is a good piece of tin to have.

Looks like and external pto pump bracket.

thats correct it holds the pto guard or shield.
the guard fits over the ears at the sides and has a slot on top that goes over tab with hole. then you put a snap pin in the hole to hold it on. it's easy to remove and put on to give better access when hooking up the pto.
