I made a few measurements on the bore in the distributor that the shaft with the "C" sun gear runs in:

The gap in the seal ring is .011 where there is no wear, and .016 where the seal normally runs. The .005 difference works out to a .0016 difference in diameter between worn and un-worn.

The ID of the bore is 1.875. Any ideas as to how bad this is, or what a new seal gap might be?

Thank you for the previouse help, and hopefully for any with this,

Dave

Dave, neither measurement sounds like anything to get worried about. A new seal ring might be a hair tighter, but there are no published dimensions anywhere for this that I'm aware of. Also, your wear sounds normal. To have only .0015" wear in that bore is insignificant in my opinion.
